"Take care’f yourself, kid. You know how t’reach me f’you ever need me."
Toby set his board down before wrapping his arms around Slightly lightly.
"Same to you, dude."
"All the stuff tha’ happened b’tween us…’m sorry for causin’ so much trouble. An’ I don’ blame you for leavin’, then or now. You know that, righ’? An’ I wanta still be friends."
"Mate, you’re bloody ridiculous. You didn’ cause any trouble, if I recall, you were the one takin’ care of me."
He smiled softly, “Thank you, that’d be nice. It was nice seeing you again, Eddie.”
"I…um, I’m sorry. For everything. I mean it." Shaking his head, he takes out his skateboard before fiddling with the wheels. "I’m leaving. My heart…it’s not here anymore. I’ll miss you and everyone but I should move on."
"Nice meeting you t—?"
"Hey!" Esme plants her hands on her hips. "I’m not going to force you to stay if leaving’s what you want to do, but you do not just get to walk away all huffy. I at least get a hug— you did run me over, you know.”
He turned back around with a small smile. “Fine, fine. Bring it in,” Toby said with a smile. “by the way, I’m still sorry about that.”
He hugged her softly and couldn’t help but tighten his arms around her before stepping away. “Stay safe and don’t get run over anymore, short stuff.” A sound somewhat left his mouth before he darted away and pulled out his skateboard, riding off as fast as he could.
"You’re leaving so soon? Didn’t you just get here?"
"Yeah but, my heart’s not here."
"It was nice meeting you."
"Where you headed off to, skater boy?"
"I’m going home. Things here were fun but my heart’s not here anymore."
"It was nice meeting you."
"I know he is sorry.. He called me on prom night and we met..that’s why I was upset when we bumped into each other. ..Yes I used to think that to, but people surprise you. Even if he wasn’t truly himself back then..it was still him. Does that make sense?"
"Well then do be careful atleast."
"Not really. Well, kinda. It was his body but his mind wasn’t all there."
"I can do that."
"He’s eyes..went wild. He said things I never thought he would.. He cared about you alot you know."
"Don’t get into too much trouble back home, okay Tobs?"
"Yeah, he did. I’m sure he’s sorry. Slightly’d never hurt a fly. Well unless the fly hurt someone he loved."
"I’m not making any promises. They call me Tramp for a reason."
”..You should have seen him when he broke..” She sighed shaking her head with a small frown. “Maybe once. I guess I’ll believe it when I hear it from him. Caring is enough.”
”..Okay. ..I won’t.”
"I bet it wasn’t pretty. He didn’t seem like himself. I was there when he had nightmares, I don’t…it’s hard to describe what he was like. Just different." He nodded at her words, not speaking.
Toby smiled brightly at her. “Thank you.”
”..I can’t forget it, even if I want to. Maybe it’s just a matter of time before I do something that just..that makes he snap again. It’s not healthy.” She murmured a small frown on her lips, “He cares yes, but love? No..No he does not love me.”
"I’d be kidding myself if I thought it would be like it was before. Maybe it’s what we need…to just let each other go. I suppose..Thank you Toby."
"Wendy…I don’t think it was something you did to make him snap. It was probably something else that he was dealing with at the time. It just happened to be you who was with him when he broke." Rolling his eyes, Toby snorted. "And I’m not a street rat. He loves you."
"You totally didn’t listen to anything I said, it’s never gonna like it was before but it could be better. If you want it to be. Don’t thank me, well, if you really want to thank me, don’t give up on that boy. I feel like that happens to him way too often and I haven’t helped him."
